* 22 -- Kearny High students reveal suggestions for reuse of old city Central Library, 10 a.m., lobby, City of San Diego Administration Building, 202 C Street (92101). Juniors at the Stanley E. Foster School of Engineering, Innovation and Design at the Kearny Educational Complex have ideas on how to repurpose the city's old downtown library. Dr. Michael McQuary, will join the students and San Diego city officials Mayor Kevin Faulconer, and City Council Members Sherri S. Lightner, Scott Sherman and Chris Cate. Contact: Jennifer N. 24 -- Logan-Memorial K-12 Project Master Plan Meeting, 6 p.m., Memorial Prep Middle School Library, 2850 Logan Ave., San Diego, CA 92113. San Diego Unified School District is developing a site master plan for Logan K-8 School and Memorial Preparatory for Scholars and Athletes Middle School. The site master plan provides a road map for the near- and long-term growth and redevelopment of the school campuses. It will also assist in planning the capital facilities bond projects for the schools. Sponsored by Cal-SOAP, students can learn interviewing skills, engage in career workshops, discover career paths, meet business leaders and professionals, find internship opportunities, and see career demonstrations. Kickoff of San Diego Unified's participation in Grad Nation, a national effort to raise the high-school graduation rate in the US to 90 percent (it is currently 80 percent). The speaker is Aída Walqui, English learner scholar and director of the teacher professional development program at WestEd, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research, development, and service agency working with education and other communities throughout the United States and abroad.
