District high school students to get real world photography experience, lessons through Photo 360

WHAT: Photo 360 will provide a real world photography experience to over 150 district high school photography students on January 10, 2017. The event will include multiple photography workshops led by the San Diego City College photography professors and staff. Every high school student will have a DSLR digital camera and will rotate through four professional photo studio workshops during the day. Students will have the opportunity to photograph various people and objects including professional fashion models, In addition, students will be exposed to a variety of current photographic techniques as well as traditional film and darkroom processing methods. Photo 360 will allow students to experience competitive photography in a professional environment in the new state-of-the-art photography studios at San Diego City College.

WHO: San Diego City College and San Diego Unified School District:
Schools: Morse, Mira Mesa, Lincoln, SCPA, Twain, Serra, La Jolla, Point Loma and Patrick Henry. Corporations: Nelson Photo Supplies, Monica Royal Macroworks, Canon, Panasonic, Sigma, Tamron, and Fuji.

- 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM Welcome and Introductions (1st Floor Auditorium)
- 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Photo Workshop #1 ( Fashion Models)
- 10:10 AM to 11:10 AM Photo Workshop # 2 ( Marco Photography)
- 11:20 to 12:00 PM Exhibit Hall (Lunch)
- 12:10 AM to 1:10 PM Photo Workshop # 3 (Painting with Light)
- 1:20 PM to 2:20 PM Photo Workshop # 4 ( Film Lab and Darkroom Experience)

WHERE: San Diego City College - Downtown San Diego, 1081 16th St, San Diego, CA 92101
(Building- V101 CTC 5th floor) Note: Building V101 CTC entrance is located at the corner of 16th and C Street

VISUALS: High school photography students will be actively photographing fashion models, objects, and working in several professional high tech photography studios throughout the day. Students will be led by City College photography professors and professional photographers. This event is a high energy fast paced venue. Visuals will include: The new state-of-the-art photography studios, lighting equipment, professional models, macro photography, hundreds of student photographers, exhibit hall, darkrooms, classrooms and photo galleries.

SPEAKERS/INTERVIEWS: Students, teachers, college professors and local photography business. (Spanish as well)

BACKGROUND: Photo 360 is designed to provide students with a real world experience in professional photography at one of the leading college programs in San Diego. San Diego Unified School District, San Diego City College District and Nelson Photo Supplies have come together to promote the art and passion of photography to high school students. In addition to this unique opportunity, resources and information will be provided to students who wish to pursue post-secondary education and careers within the world of photography.
