Tuesday 5/29 – 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Kearny High School - Saving Coral Reefs One Video at a Time
Through an innovative partnership, the School of Digital Media & Design (DMD) at Kearny High School and Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego aim to find out. Tenth graders from Kearny High School were paired up with scientists from Scripps Institution of Oceanography to investigate the global impacts of environmental change on coral reefs. The students produced video campaigns that are intended to inspire the public to protect coral reefs and to galvanize the next generation of ocean stewards. The student-made videos will be screened during the Sea & Me event at Birch Aquarium on May 29. The Sea & Me screening is open to the public and takes place at Birch Aquarium on Tuesday, May 29 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided by the Kearny High School Culinary Arts Program. Wednesday 5/30 – 8:00 a.m. – Crown Point Elementary School's End of the Year Guitar Music Club Show
Come rock out with the Crown Point Elementary School Music club! The music club performs at many community events including the Pacific Beach Library and Gator by the Bay. This end of year performance will highlight the growth that these student musicians have demonstrated, whether this has been their first or fifth year in the guitar music club.

Wednesday 5/30 – 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. – Top One Percent of San Diego Unified High School Graduates to be Honored at 'Salute To Excellence'; Outstanding Students in Class of 2018 Honored at Annual Event
The event recognizes seniors ranked in the top one percent of their high school's Class of 2018. More than 80 students will be honored, including all high school valedictorians. Principals, counselors, parents and other family members will be in attendance along with Board of Education trustees and Superintendent Cindy Marten. Ed Abeyta, UCSD Associate Dean and Director of Pre-College Programs, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Marilyn Hannes, Park President of San Diego SeaWorld and Aquatica, will welcome the attendees. Diego Robles from Kearny High School is the student speaker. Musical entertainment is being provided by the Preservationists from Mission Bay High School. This annual event brings together students from all San Diego Unified high schools, where they are announced by their principal, and receive a certificate and medal for their achievements. Some of the schools that students will be attending in the fall include Stanford, Cornell, Yale, Harvard, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego and UCLA.

Thursday 5/31 – 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. – 5th Annual Patrick Henry High School STEM Day
150 Patrick Henry Engineering Academy Students will share their STEM knowledge with 500 5th grader from a neighboring elementary school. The high school students will lead the elementary school students in STEM themed projects including, the construction of a boat, a robotics engineering demonstration and a aquaponics activity.
