PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The Crawford High School College, Career and Technical Education and Whole Site Modernization project will be constructed in three phases.
The first phase of construction will upgrade the automotive CCTE program with a new building and three new service bays and a dedicated alignment bay. The existing auto lab will receive a renovated classroom, an engine lab, and a single bay demonstration lift.
The second phase includes renovations to classrooms, security upgrades to fire alarms and emergency communications systems, as well as installation of security lighting and security cameras. Existing restrooms and the food services area will also be renovated.
In the final phase, crews will demolish the existing auditorium to create a three-story structure that will house twenty classrooms, a performing arts center, and an administrative office suite. The building includes a drop-off and pickup area at the corner of Orange Avenue and Colts Way, which will be accompanied by a new parking lot as the final piece.
BACKGROUND:
San Diego Unified’s capital projects are funded by San Diego Unified School District’s Propositions S and Z, which are local bond measures approved by San Diego voters to repair, renovate and revitalize neighborhood schools. In addition to renovation and replacement, bond projects include classroom technology, facilities to support College, Career and Technical Education, classroom air conditioning, safety and security upgrades, and other facilities improvements at traditional and public charter schools throughout San Diego Unified.
PARKING: Media can park behind the stairs along Sharron Place. We will have designated
