San Diego Unified Declares September Hispanic Heritage Month
SAN DIEGO (Sept. 11, 2019) - The San Diego Unified School District adopted a resolution proclaiming Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, 2019 as National Hispanic Heritage Month. Approved by the Board of Education on Monday, the resolution encourages teachers, staff members, students, and the community to use this opportunity to honor the contributions of the Latino population through student-led activities and inclusive curriculum.
San Diego Unified recognizes the diversity of the residents of the City of San Diego, and values the diversity of its students and staff as a strength. The district respects the contributions, culture, and heritage of Latinos in the region. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month San Diego Unified would like to celebrate the achievements of its Hispanic students.
San Diego Unified will celebrate these achievements and Hispanic Heritage month at Rosa Parks Elementary School on Friday, Sept. 13. Please see media advisory below for more information.
