SEE SAN DIEGO UNIFIED'S VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION AT SPRECKELS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
What: Volunteers in action at Spreckels Elementary School, saluting the Year
of the School Volunteer and hosted by Board of Education Member John Lee
Evans.
When: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9
Where: Spreckels Elementary School, 6033 Stadium Street (92122).
Details: More than 28,000 volunteers contribute hours worth nearly $18
million to San Diego's schools. To honor San Diegans contributing not only
their personal time but also our business partners and donors, the Board of
Education has designated 2009-10 the Year of the School Volunteer.
At Spreckels Elementary School in University City, media members will be
able to visit classrooms, photograph and talk with volunteers at work with
students. Photography of and interviews with the elementary school students
is encouraged! Teachers and the Spreckels principal, along with the school's
community partners, will also be available for interview.
