15 -- Statewide Earthquake Drill Set with Participation by San Diego Unified
schools, 10:15 a.m. San Diego Unified will join millions of Californians and
participate in the 2009 Shake-out Earthquake Drill. Students, staff and
visitors at both schools and central office work sites will practice ³Drop,
Cover and Hold On² and other aspects of site emergency plans. For

citizens¹ advisory group authorized to consider proposals and develop
recommendations relative to the use and disposition of excess real property

23 -- International Festival, Doyle Elementary School, 3950 Berino Ct.
(92122). This fun filled event highlights the diverse cultures represented
in our school community. Parents will host Heritage Booths, where students
can explore different cultures through art, crafts, and traditional dress.
Also: student performances and a Food Faire, where local restaurants and
parent volunteers give us a taste of the international. Free admission.

24 -- Halloween Carnival, noon to 4 p.m., Walt Whitman Elementary School,

to play the many carnival games, shop the fabulous vendors, enjoy the live
entertainment, and feast on the delicious food. Sponsored by the Whitman

28 -- Family Art Night, 5-7 p.m., Zamorano Fine Arts Academy, 2655 Casey St.
(92139). An event that encourages the families, students, teachers, and
overall educational community to come out and try their hand at some low
stress, high success art projects at our site. These are projects that can
be done at home and most are very budget friendly. Teachers and parent

(92113). There will be games, haunted hall, delicious food provided by our

drawing, bake sale, food booth and cake walk. Proceeds go to programs such

* 2 -- Tour of New Madison High Auto Technology Facility with Supt. Jack

Madison¹s new automotive technology facility is currently under
construction, with funding coming from state Prop 1D and San Diego Unified
Prop S. Supt. O¹Connell will be joined by the auto technology¹s volunteers
and partners, as well as San Diego Community College District staff, in a
