Come in Underestimate

SAN DIEGO-On Feb. 18, 2010, a bid opening was held for the construction of a new automotive shop at Clairemont High School. This is the second project bid under the San Diego Unified School District's Project Stabilization Agreement. All the bids came in under the government cost estimate of $4,164,347. Clairemont High School is located at 4150 Ute Drive, San Diego (92117). Below are the bids.

This bid tabulation reports the results of the bid opening only and does not guarantee or imply project award. The district Strategic Sourcing and Contracts Department will be making a recommendation regarding this bid to the Board of Education on March 23, 2010, at 4100 Normal Street, San Diego, CA 92103.

Project Description: This project will produce a new state-of- the-art 3,475-square-foot masonry auto technology building and a remodeled existing auto shop that is adjacent to the new facility. The remodeled area will provide a classroom and additional lab/instructional space. The new facility will consist of six auto bays that will be used by students as labs to practice what is learned in the classroom setting. A 32-student classroom will be located in the existing 3,420-square-foot auto shop area that will be remodeled to accommodate a classroom and a two-bay lab area that will be used for Engine Performance and Diagnostics.

The new auto technology building is a Career Technical Education (CTE) facility that is partially funded by a California State Proposition 1D grant. Local Proposition S funds will be used to fund the rest of the project.
