La Jolla Students Win National and State Competition for Creative Energy
Projects

Johnson Controls to recognize students at surprise celebration at La Jolla
High School

What: Join students, teachers, and school officials at La Jolla High School
as Adam Hersko-Ronatas and Jaena Han are named the 2011 national high school
and state high school winners of the Igniting Creative Energy (ICE)
Challenge, respectively. ICE is a national educational competition sponsored
by Johnson Controls that encourages elementary, middle, and high school
students to develop creative ways to be more energy efficient and become
better stewards of the environment.

Hersko-Ronatas developed a self-narrated video about building
weatherization, while Han created artwork that illustrates how people can
save energy and water each day.

As a national ICE winner, Hersko-Ronatas will receive a prize package,
including a trip to the United States Energy Efficiency Forum in Washington,
D.C., where he will share his winning entry with national leaders and energy
policymakers.

Both Hersko-Ronatas and Han will receive a solar backpack that can charge
most personal electronic devices, courtesy of Johnson Controls and the
National Energy Foundation.
