College Avenue Compact are sponsoring College Prep Day, a campus-wide
event that exposes students to college activities. All Hoover High School
students will participate and benefit from some type of college
preparatory benchmark exam or seminars on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 as
part of the PSAT National Testing Day.

Students will take the following exams or seminars:

* 9th grade: ACT Explore
* 10th grade: PSAT
* 11th grade: ACT PLAN
* 12th grade: Students will be able to choose two seminars from the
following options:

1. Community College Orientation
2. Job Applications and Resume Building
3. Writing a Personal Statement
4. Choosing a Major and Career
5. Get started on UC/CSU Applications

Administrators, teachers, counselors, custodians, cafeteria managers,
campus security, and student support staff have been working diligently to
prepare for this academically enriching experience. In addition, the
campus has been promoting this event to the students via a countdown
banner and daily SAT words of the day. SDSU¹s very own Aztec Warrior will
also be joining us to kick-off the event to motivate students to start
preparing for college.

Another unique benefit offered exclusively to Hoover High School students
in the San Diego Unified School District is the College Avenue Compact,
which guarantees admission to San Diego State University (SDSU) for all
Hoover students who meet the CAC benchmark requirements. For students who
prefer to begin their higher education at the community college, the
agreement also provides an alternate pathway through San Diego City
College with a guaranteed transfer to SDSU. Hoover High School is
committed to prepare all students to be college and career ready.
