Circus comes to school in first nutrition education assembly

 

SAN DIEGO – Gone are the days of quiet classrooms and books being the only method of teaching. Students at one San Diego Unified school are in for a fun lesson in healthy eating as the district’s Food and Nutrition Services has partnered with San Diego’s Fern Street Circus to bring nutrition education assemblies to elementary schools. Fay Elementary will host the first assembly, “Eat a Rainbow,” where students will learn the importance of eating a variety of fruits and vegetables through an interactive 30-minute circus show – foot juggling, tight wire, contortionist, clown and all.

9:20-10:00 a.m. – first assembly (grades K-2)

10:10-10:50 a.m. – second assembly (grades 3-4)
