New Name Unveiled for Former Lee Elementary School

 

WHAT:  Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez will join Superintendent Cindy Marten, Board Trustee Sharon Whitehurst-Payne, Principal Silvia Martinez, students and staff for the ceremonial unveiling of the new name for the former Lee Elementary School tomorrow afternoon.   

 

WHEN: 1:30-2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19

 

WHERE:  Pacific View Leadership Elementary School, 6196 Childs Ave., San Diego, CA 92139  (Site map available by calling 619-546-3378 before noon tomorrow.)

 

SPEAKERS/INTERVIEWEES: Assemblymember Gonzalez, Superintendent Marten and Trustee Whitehurst-Payne. Area Superintendent Lamont Jackson, who participated in the renaming process, will also be available for interviews after the unveiling. (Interviews available in Spanish.)

 

PHOTOS/VISUALS:  Press conference, student reading poem about the renaming of his school, students and dignitaries  unveiling the signage on the front of the school. Image files of students participating in the renaming process will also be available.

 

BACKGROUND: The signage project was coordinated and overseen by the district’s Physical Plant Operations Department.
