San Diego Unified Students March, Rally and Gather in Celebration of Cesar Chavez
San Diego Unified continues to celebrate Arts & Diversity in education with a commemorative march that encourages students to create, innovate, and inspire others to embrace diversity and dream big.
WHAT: Cesar Chavez Elementary School will remember Cesar Chavez with inspirational student-led demonstrations throughout the entire day. In recognition of the legendary civil rights leader's birthday, San Diego Unified School District students, parents, staff and community leaders will take part in a day of celebration with student-led songs, dances and speeches. Superintendent Cindy Marten will deliver a community welcome at the 2nd annual event aimed at promoting community service and unity.

9:15-10:30 am.:
· Superintendent Cindy Marten – Welcome Speech
· Special Guest Speaker – Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher
· Special Guest Speaker – Barbara Ybarra
· Kindergarten Dance – "La Raspa"
· 1st Grade Dance – "El Baile del Sapito"
· 3rd Grade Song – "We shall not be moved, No nos Moveran"
· 5th Grade Song – "Paz y Libertad"
· 4th & 5th Grade Speeches
· Cesar Chavez Chant
10:35 – 11:30 am.: Community March. Students, parents and community will participate in a march around the block.
12:15 – 2:00 pm.: School Festival and mini car show.
