Local School Students to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Festivities throughout the San Diego Unified School District
March is California Arts Education month and The San Diego Unified School District is taking part by celebrating with art & diversity themed events throughout the district.

WHAT: The San Diego Unified School District invites the media cover traditional Celtic celebrations taking place at various school sites Thursday, March 16, 2017 and Friday March 17, 2017. Holding to the belief that "Everyone is a little bit Irish on St. Patrick's Day," The San Diego Unified School district is proud to celebrate diversity and embrace multi-culture festivities and events within our schools.

WHEN: Thursday, March 16, 2017 and Friday, March 17, 2017 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Event times vary by school site)

DETAILS: Festivities will be held throughout the day at the following schools:



1. Vista Grande Elementary School 5606 Antigua Blvd, 92124

Vista Grande Elementary will host an Irish dance assembly on Thursday, March 16th at 8:00 a.m. Thursday's assembly will be the finale to an Irish dance class 2nd and 3rd grade students have been participating in throughout the week. Student will perform the routine they learned followed by a a performance from the professional Troupe.

2. Crown Point Elementary School 4033 Ingraham St, 92109
The Crown Point Jr. Music Academy will host a bagpipe musician on campus at Friday, March 17th at 1:00 p.m. Followed by an all school parade throughout the campus' field while carrying the Irish flag.

3. Fletcher Elementary School 7666 Bobolink Way, 92123
Students will be learning traditional Gaelic choreography from an Irish dance troupe. Dancing will begin Friday, March 17th at 1:15 p.m. Students will be dressed in all green as well as take part in a special food tasting of traditional Irish soda bread.

4. Miramar Ranch Elementary 10770 Red Cedar Dr, 92131

Miramar Ranch Elementary will host an Irish dance troupe on Friday, March 17th at 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 and a second assembly from 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
