Ceremonial Signing of Renewed Agreement Guaranteeing Admission to SDSU for Qualifying Hoover High School Students 

 

Hoover HS Graduates Gather to Celebrate Continued Partnership, Share Experiences

WHAT: Ceremonial signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the San Diego Unified School District and San Diego State University guaranteeing admission to the university for qualifying Hoover High School students through the Class of 2028, and details of updated eligibility requirements.     

 

WHEN: Thursday, July 11, 10 a.m.

*Parking available in Parking Structure 7. *News vehicles with a valid SDSU media parking permit can park in faculty/staff or student spaces in Parking Structure 7. Parking in reserved, special permit (SP), or other specially-marked spaces will result in citation. Review SDSU’s media parking policy before arrival.

INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES: San Diego Unified leaders, SDSU Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Stefan Hyman, Hoover High School graduates who have gone through the program, representatives from Price Philanthropies Foundation. 

 

BACKGROUND: First established for the Hoover High Class of 2011 and known as the College Avenue Compact, hundreds of Hoover graduates have secured their spot at San Diego State through the guaranteed admissions agreement. Helping those students along the way is a support program, funded by Price Philanthropies Foundation, called Avenues for Success (AFS). Among other resources, AFS offers college advising, planning and visits, financial aid support, career exploration, and workshops for students and families.
