NEWS RELEASE -- Mossy Donates Car For A Top District Student; Giveaway Thursday

MEDIA ADVISORY from the San Diego Unified School District, March 30, 2011

MOSSY DONATES CAR FOR TOP DISTRICT STUDENT; GIVEAWAY THURSDAY

WHAT: Second annual "It's Cool to be Smart" Giveaway

WHEN: 6 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011. The program, including the car
givewaway, is expected to be completed by 7 p.m.

WHERE: Scripps Ranch High School Gym, 5156 Santo Rd. (92124)

DETAILS: For the second year, the Mossy Automotive Group is donating a car
to a lucky and smart San Diego Unified graduating senior; dozens of other
prizes will be given to other students.

Students will drop their entry forms in a hopper when they enter and the
prizes, including the car, will be awarded at random.

In addition to the new car, many local businesses have donated prizes.
Donors include Broken Yolk Café, Brunswick Premier Lanes, California Coast
Credit Union, Casa De Pico Mexican Restaurant, Chicken Nest, Chick-fil-a,
H&M Landing, ICETOWN, La Jolla Kayak, Marie Callender's, Miramar Speed
Circuit, Mission Federal Credit Union, Mrs. Fields, Old Trieste Restaurant,
Pure Spa and Chiropractic, Real Mex Restaurants, Reuben H. Fleet Science
Center, Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill, Sail Ho Golf Club, Sam's Club, San
Diego Chargers, San Diego Coaster Company, San Diego County Fair, San Diego
Harbor Excursion, San Diego Ice Arena, San Diego Padres, San Diego Repertory
Theatre, San Diego Restaurant Management, San Diego Symphony, SeaWorld,
Souplantation & Sweet Tomatoes, The Cheesecake Factory, The Fish Market, The
Wave Waterpark, Ultrazone, Westfield Parkway.

Reporter Erica Fox from Fox 5 San Diego will host. The Serra High JROTC and
Madison High cheerleaders will perform.

Eligible students have: Completed at lease one, year-long Advanced Placement
or International Baccalaureate course with a final grade of C or higher,
before their senior year; enrolled in at least one AP/IB course during their
senior year and earned a C or higher in the first semester; are a senior on
track for graduation in the 2010-11 school year; will be age 18 by December
31, 2011. Students can increase their chances by accumulating Cool to be
Smart entries. One entry is awarded for every semester of an AP/IB course
taken by the end of the first semester in their senior year for which a
grade of C or higher was earned; each AP/IB semester course counts as one
additional entry.

This program is part of San Diego Unified School District's Advanced
Placement Incentive Program (www.apipsandiego.org) and the Office of Grants
and Development.
