Kickoff of San Diego Unified's participation in Grad Nation, a national effort to raise the high-school graduation rate in the US to 90 percent (it is currently 80 percent). The speaker is Aída Walqui, English learner scholar and director of the teacher professional development program at WestEd, anonpartisan, nonprofit research, development, and service agency working with education and other communities throughout the United States and abroad. It will also assist in planning the capital facilities bond projects for the schools. * 16 -- Clairemont Day at the Bay, Fast Times 5K, 8 a.m., De Anza Cove, Mission Bay Park. The Clairemont area schools, including Madison and Clairemont high schools, sponsor this day of activities at Mission Bay Park. Area schools partner with local businesses and organizations to have all sorts of fun, family activities. Prospective parents and students can learn about the educational opportunities at the 19 Clairemont public schools. * 21 -- Clairemont Schools Sustainability Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92117.
