SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT DEDICATES NEW TURF FIELD AT OAK PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

WHAT: Superintendent Cindy Marten and Board Member Sharon Whitehurst-Payne will join hundreds of students, parents and community members in celebrating the completion of a new turf field at Oak Park Elementary School in San Diego. This new field enriches the physical education program by promoting health and fitness. It also enhances the school environment and increases school pride.

WHEN: March 16 (tomorrow), 9 a.m.

WHERE: Oak Park Elementary School, 2606 54th St., San Diego 92105
The field is located in the center of the campus. Media parking will be available on site. (A site map is available upon request.)

VISUALS: Student-led Pledge of Allegiance, fifth-grade band performing National Anthem, kindergarteners singing "The World is a Rainbow," student playing on new field, and ceremonial ribbon cutting

GUEST SPEAKERS: Board Member Sharon Whitehurst-Payne, Superintendent Cindy Marten, Principal Dr. Reashon L. Villery and Chief Facilities Planning & Construction Officer Lee Dulgeroff

PROJECT INFO: A turf play field including soccer striping, soccer goals, a cooling/cleaning system, drainage system, perimeter asphalt paving, concrete curbs and permanent backstops for kickball.
