Sessions Elementary to Celebrate Month of the Military Child with Special  Appearance by US Coast Guard Helicopter

 

WHAT: Students, staff and guests at Sessions Elementary School celebrate “Month of the Military Child” with a special breakfast for military families, military volunteers reading to students, and a special appearance by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, which will land on the school’s playground.

 

WHEN: Wednesday, April 20, 2016

WHERE: Sessions Elementary School, 2150 Beryl Street, San Diego, CA 92109

 

DETAILS:  In 1986, then Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger declared April as the “Month of the Military Child” to honor the special sacrifices and service of military-connected students. Schools, organizations and installations will be honoring and celebrating military children all over the world during the month of April. San Diego Unified currently serves 13,000 military-connected students.

 

Sessions Elementary School, located in Pacific Beach, has a special day planned on its campus that will include a breakfast for military families, a morning assembly, volunteers from San Diego's military community will read to students and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter will land on the school's playground between 8:15 and 9:15 a.m.
