Through April 18 -- Spring break for year-round schools.


Through April 15 -- Spring Fun Cafe, times vary, 10 locations. San Diego children on Spring Break have multiple opportunities to have free lunches as Spring Fun Café through April 15 at 10 selected City of San Diego recreation centers. *7 -- C-SPAN StudentCam Awards Ceremony, 12:30-1 p.m., Correia Middle School, 4302 Valeta Street (92107). C-SPAN will be honoring two groups of students who were winners in C-SPAN's nationwide documentary contest, StudentCam at Contact: Vanessa Torres, c-SPAN, 202-626-7952 or Not Open to the public.


*13 – So You’ve Been Accepted to College reception, 5:30-8 p.m., Scottish Rite Center, 1895 Camino del Rio South (92108).12th grade students and their parent/guardian are invited to attend this free program and get information about how to choose the right college for the student. Pre-registration required at Open to the public.


14 -- Kearny High Cluster Meeting, 4:30 p.m., Kearny High Complex Room 301, 7651 Wellington Street (92111). Parents, students and community members are invited to attend this meeting, which discusses educational issues at the high school and its middle and elementary schools. Schools in the Kearny cluster are: Angier, Carson, Chesterton, Cubberley, Fletcher, Jones, Juarez, Linda Vista, Ross, and Wegeforth elementary schools; Montgomery and Taft middle schools; and Kearny High. 16 -- UC Spirit Run, 9 a.m., University City High School, 6949 Genesee Ave, San Diego, CA 92122. This third-annual event raises money for University City schools and is sponsored by the University City cluster school supporters. Contact: Open to the public.


16 -- Clairemont Day at the Bay, Fast Times 5K, 8 a.m., De Anza Cove, Mission Bay Park. The Clairemont area schools, including Madison and Clairemont high schools, sponsor this day of activities at Mission Bay Park. Area schools partner with local businesses and organizations to have all sorts of fun, family activities. Prospective parents and students can learn about the educational opportunities at the 19 Clairemont public schools. 19 -- Joint Board of Education--San Diego Community College District Board Meeting, 5 p.m., Mira Mesa High School Media Center, 10510 Reagan Road, San Diego, CA 92126. Elected leaders from San Diego's school district and community college district will meet jointly to discuss coordinating education programs for San Diego's students. 20 -- Scripps Ranch Schools Committee, 4:30 p.m., Marshall Middle School Community Room, 9700 Avenue of Nations, (92131). 21 -- Clairemont Schools Sustainability Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92117. Each of the schools from the Clairemont and Madison high school clusters will have displays and activities focusing on sustainability. *21 – Grad Nation, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Hoover High School, 4474 El Cajon Blvd. (92115). Parents, students, educators, and business and community members are invited to join the Grad Nation campaign, a collaborative effort with the goal of increasing graduation rates for students learning English. 25 -- Mira Mesa Cluster School Council meeting, Mira Mesa High School Media Center, 10510 Reagan Road (92116). Discussion and community dialogue with school staff, parents and community members in the Mira Mesa High School area: Ericson, Hage, Hickman, Salk, Mason, Sandburg, Walker elementary schools; Challenger, Wangenheim middle schools; Mira Mesa High School. * 1 -- Muirlands Rocks, 2-5 p.m., Muirlands Middle School, 1056 Nautilus Street, La Jolla, CA 92037. Fundraiser features student performances, games and activities, food and prizes. * 3 -- Day of the Teacher Celebration, 4:30 p.m., Creative Performing Media Arts Middle School Performing Arts Center, 5050 Conrad Ave. (92117). Event honors the teaching profession. At the ceremony, all site teacher of the year honorees, Teacher of the Year candidates and district Teacher of the Year winners and runners-up will be recognized, along with Future Educator Scholars, and Mashin and STEM Scholarship recipients (selected by the San Diego Education Fund). * 17 -- Classified Employee of the Year Celebration, 4:15 p.m., Kearny High School Auditorium, 1954 Komet Way (92111). This event recognizes the invaluable efforts of the district’s classified employees who work every day to create and sustain a healthy school environment for all students. At the ceremony, all site/department honorees as well as the district’s 2016 Classified Employee of the Year winner and runner-up will be recognized.
