BACKGROUND: The Office of College, Career and Technical Education (CCTE) provides high quality, college and career-themed programs that enrich and engage students with state-of-the-art, dynamic and challenging courses. These courses integrate core standards and industry competencies with real-world applications that prepare our students for success. The instructional integration of academic and workplace skills provides career awareness and exploration, including internship opportunities. Over 60 CTE courses are approved for UC “a-g” college entrance credit.

The annual CCTE showcase provides a platform for students to share products they produce and business problems they solve in collaboration with members of the local business community. More than 300 industry professionals volunteered to be mentors, guest speakers, or advisors for our students in 2015-16. The showcase is scheduled for June 1, 4-6 p.m., at Liberty Station Conference Center, 2600 Laning Rd, San Diego (92106).

This year CCTE is collaborating with Nick Cannon Foundation to host the foundation’s America’s Teen Mogul Summit and Student Business Plan Competition designed to educate youth to the global career and entrepreneur opportunities.  Nick Cannon Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing leadership development and community service to at-risk youth in the San Diego Community.
