San Diego Unified to Honor Classified Employees of the Year
Hundreds are expected to attend a celebration recognizing Classified Employees of the Year.

WHAT: Each year, San Diego Unified honors its classified employees during Classified School Employees Week, which is designated by the California Legislature every May. Classified school employees play crucial roles in education. From transporting and feeding students to teaching them vital skills and ensuring that schools operate smoothly, classified employees are integral to public education.
Coinciding with Classified School Employee Week, May 19-25, San Diego Unified will honor the 2024 Classified Employee of the Year and Runner-Up at a celebration at UC San Diego’s Park & Market on Tuesday, May 21 at 5 p.m. Classified Employees of the Year from individual schools and departments will also be honored. The celebration will be hosted by Morgan Appel, UC San Diego Assistant Dean for Education and Community Outreach.

PARKING: Free Parking will be provided in the Padres Parkade structure (440 Eleventh Avenue). The parkade is a short 3-minute walk from the venue. To get parking validated, please bring your ticket to the check-in table, and we will provide you with a validation sticker that will allow you to leave the parking structure at the end of the day. A drop-off zone will be available for those who want direct access to the venue's main entrance. A very limited number of ADA parking spots will be available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
Interviews with the 2024 Classified Employees of the Year will be available at the ceremony between 4:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Please confirm your coverage in advance.
