STATE SCHOOLS CHIEF JACK O'CONNELL DISCUSSES IMPACT OF STATE BUDGET ON
EDUCATION

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell will hold a
news conference Friday in San Diego to discuss how education fared in
the state budget passed by the Legislature this week to close an
approximately $41 billion deficit facing California over the next
eighteen months.

Later in the day, O'Connell will speak at the 4th Annual Reaching
At-Promise Students National Conference, where he will highlight the
work being done by the California Department of Education to address the
needs of at-risk students
