California Restaurant Association San Diego County chapter to donate
equipment, funds to San Diego Unified School District culinary arts
programs

February 23, 2009, 9:30 am - 10:30 am

The San Diego County chapter of the California Restaurant Association
cordially invites the media to the presentation of new equipment and
funds to the San Diego Unified School District for use in their College
Career Technical Education culinary arts programs.

Joined by city councilmember Tony Young, the San Diego chapter will
present new equipment to the Morse High School program, as well as funds
to purchase small wares and food supplies to be used in the classroom.
Culinary arts teachers from Mira Mesa, San Diego and Garfield high
schools will join the program to accept small wares and gift cards for
use in their respective classrooms.

The CRA San Diego County chapter is dedicated to provide funding to
support the education of high school students in culinary arts programs
to ensure and provide opportunities for a talented pool of individuals
with interest in the field of culinary arts. As a leader in the press,
your attendance and support at this event would be appreciated.

The restaurant industry is a vital part of the community and a major
anchor in the San Diego economy. With more than 6,500 food and beverage
establishments in the county, the restaurant industry collectively
employs more than 100,000 workers, representing 8 percent of all private
employment in the county. The restaurant industry's workforce is
exceptionally diverse and provides a path to the middle class for more
women and minority workers than any other industry.

The presentation will begin at 9:30 a.m., and will include speeches from
Young, Sheila Jackson, Board President, San Diego Unified School
District and successful alumni of San Diego Unified High School culinary
arts programs. Several leading restaurateurs also will be on hand to
present new equipment to the Morse High School kitchen and to donate
$10,000 to the four participating high school culinary arts programs.

To RSVP for the event, call (619) 884-0626 or e-mail erin@szpr.com.
