Board of Education Holds Rare Sunday Meeting to Discuss 2009-10 Budget

As the Board of Education continues deliberations on the 2009-10 budget,
a rare Sunday meeting will convene at 2 p.m. on Feb. 22. The meeting is
open to the public and public testimony on issues is invited.
San Diego Unified faces an estimated $63.1 million reduction in funding
from the State of California for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins
July 1. Reductions are being considered from a report prepared by the
Superintendent, which is posted online at
http://www.sandi.net/budget/0910_proposed_reductions.pdf. The Board, in
earlier budget workshops, has tentatively approved items in the blue
section of the document; it will continue to consider items from the red
section of the document in upcoming meetings.
The Board meeting will be telecast on cable's ITV Channel 16 inside
district boundaries and streamed on the web at www.sandi.net.
