About the schools:
Kearny High Educational Complex, 7651 Wellington St. (92111), Clairemont Mesa East neighborhood.
Grades: 9-12. Enrollment, 1,921. Four schools in one (part of the Gates Foundation small high school effort in San Diego), with individual enrollments (Sept. 28 official enrollment numbers): School of Digital Media and Design (482); School of International Business (454); School of Science, Connections and Technology (506); and Stanley E. Foster Construction Tech Academy (479). Each school has a principal and students generally take all courses within their school, but combine for all-campus events and programs such as athletics, prom, ASB, etc.
San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, 2425 Dusk Dr. (92139). Bay Terraces neighborhood.
Grades: 6-12. Enrollment: 1,421. Commonly known as SCPA, this is San Diego's performing arts magnet school, with students in grades 9-12 needing to pass an audition to enroll. Website: http://www.scpa.sandi.net/
