San Diego's Top High School Grads Honored

Top One Percent Students Feted in "Salute to Excellence"'

What: Salute to Excellence

When: 4:30-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 20

Where: Sea World Nautilus Pavilion, 500 Sea World Dr. (92109)

Background: Recognition event for seniors ranked in the top one
percent in the San Diego Unified School District's Class of 2009.
Representatives of 32 high schools, including all valedictorians, will
be on hand. Principals, parents and counselors will also be in
attendance.

Some of these students are the first in their families to go to college.
The top four schools students are attending include UC Berkeley, UCLA,
UCSD and SDSU. Other universities include: Harvard, Stanford, Dartmouth,
Yale, and Princeton.

Speakers: Board of Education members; Nathaniel Nocum, Morse High
School; Andrea Flores, Pt. Loma High School; Dr. Terry B. Grier,
