19 -- ³The Yellow Boat,² San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts,
2425 Dusk Drive (92139). Preview is at 7 p.m. Dec. 4, with performances at 7
p.m. Dec 5, 10 and 11, as well as 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. The Yellow Boat
is based on a true-life story of 8-year-old boy who faces AIDS and
hemophilia. Tickets are $8 General Admission, $6 for Students, Senior
Citizens, and Military. Season subscriptions are $50. Order tickets through

21 -- Winter Break begins. All schools and offices closed.

4 -- Winter Break ends for traditional schedule schools. District offices
reopen; year-round schools remain open.

6 -- Family Wednesday, 9 a.m., Adams Elementary School, 4672 35th St.
(92116). The public is invited to join Adams students and staff in a flag
salute and a song by one of the classrooms, then to meet with Principal
Derek Murchison to hear about upcoming events, learn about school data and
have a question and answer session. Finally, the parents are sent to the
classrooms from 10-10:30 a.m. to read with the students. Contact: Derek

18 -- Holiday, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

18 -- San Diego High Caver Baseball Golf Tournament, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Salt
Creek Golf Club, 525 Hunte Parkway, Chula Vista, CA 91914, (619) 482-4666,
www.saltcreekgc.com. Proceeds go to the San Diego High School baseball
program. Fees: $125 per person, $400 per foursome. Contact: Sean Tucker,

19 -- Year-Round Schools Return.

30 ­ All Schools Enrollment Fair, 10 a.m. ­ 3 p.m., Recital Hall, Balboa
Park (adjacent to the Puppet Theater). Representatives from district-run
neighborhood schools, magnet and innovative programs will be available to
answer questions about school choice options at San Diego Unified. The
popular event will feature displays, student performances and
demonstrations. Sponsored by the Magnet Schools Assistance Program. Contact:

February

20-27 -- San Diego Science Festival, various locations and times. San
Diego's largest celebration of science returns to offer thousands of
students and their families the opportunity to "excite their minds." Today
(Nov. 10), the San Diego Science Festival announced that, in addition to
year-round K­12 programs, the 2010 event will bring a week of science
activities and exploration to San Diego County with hundreds of free events
beginning March 20, 2010 and culminating in Expo Day at PETCO Park on March

April
