* 23 -- UCSD's Girls Day Out Workshop for Middle School Girls, 10:30 am to
1:45 p.m., University of California San Diego. SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific
(SSC-PAC) in partnership with UCSD Presents Girl¹s Day Out! Inspiring young

* 26 -- Powwow Workshop Soaring Eagles, 6-8:30 p.m. Ballard Parent Center,
2375 Congress St. Enjoy free potluck supper and practice for Soaring Eagles
student dance troupe, and pitch in to help the children learn history,
heritage and performance lessons. Part of Parent Outreach's American Indian

* 26 -- Caver Commotion, 5:30 p.m., School of Business at the San Diego High
Educational Complex, 1405 Park Blvd. (92101). Get a preview of the School of
Business, or any other small school of interest at San Diego High. Current

presentation is offered by the Nursing & Wellness program as part of the

28-29 -- Band On The Run, San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts,

29-30 -- Metamorphoses, San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts,
2425 Dusk Drive. A new adaptation by Mary Zimmerman of Ovid's masterpiece
where a pool of water becomes a magical meeting place for mortals and the
gods. Directed by Bill Doyle. Performances are at: 7 p.m., Jan. 29, 30,
February 4, 5, 10, 11 at 7 p.m.; and 2 p.m. Feb. 6 at 2pm in The Little

30 ­ All Schools Enrollment Fair, 10 a.m. ­ 3 p.m., Recital Hall, Balboa
Park (adjacent to the Puppet Theater). Representatives from district-run
neighborhood schools, magnet and innovative programs will be available to
answer questions about school choice options at San Diego Unified. The
popular event will feature displays, student performances and

30 -- Pancake Breakfast and GATE Garage Sale, Wegeforth Elementary School,
3443 Ediwhar Ave. (92123). From 8-11 a.m., student council members and staff
will be serving breakfast; proceeds go to the support the Wegeforth Student
Council. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the GATE Garage Sale invites community
members to buy and sell items, with proceeds going to support the Gifted and

20-27 -- San Diego Science Festival, various locations and times. San
Diego's largest celebration of science returns to offer thousands of
students and their families the opportunity to "excite their minds." Today
(Nov. 10), the San Diego Science Festival announced that, in addition to
year-round K­12 programs, the 2010 event will bring a week of science
activities and exploration to San Diego County with hundreds of free events
beginning March 20, 2010 and culminating in Expo Day at PETCO Park on March
