17 -- Guitars in the Classroom Benefit Concert, 7 p.m., Montgomery Middle
School, 2470 Ulric St. (92111). The Banana Slug String Band performs a fun
family evening complete a teacher-led opening sing along, a door prize
drawing, and a special after show pajama party for family golden circle
ticket holders. Doug Dirt and Airy Larry will bring out the music,
costumes, and share wisdom from the garden and nature to raise money for
free Guitars in the Classroom music leadership training for San Diego
teachers. All ages are encouraged, and children may attend in jammies so
they can roll right into bed when they get home. Tickets are $8-15, with a
$100 whole family, Golden Circle Pajama Party ticket available; tickets
are at purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/191069.

18 -- Birney Elementary Block Party, University Heights Arts Open, 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m., Birney Elementary School, 4345 Campus Ave. (92103). Live band,
picnicking, children¹s art, bounce house, free cake, refreshments and
more. The grassy area in front of the Historic Teachers Training Building
Annex 1 at 4100 Normal Street is the starting point for the events, the
Will Call booth for the Taste of UH and features 60 booths of visual
artists of all mediums including painting, photography, art glass,
sculpture, jewelry, and mixed media, as well as historic groups, community
groups and free parking. Birney Block Party (a block away at Park/Meade)
features live music, food, and children¹s activities. Contact: University

19 -- Hoover Cluster Meeting, 6 p.m., Hoover High School, 4474 El Cajon
Blvd. (92115). Parents, students, community members and staff are all
invited. Hoover cluster schools are Hoover High, Wilson and Clark middle,
and Adams, Central, Cherokee Point, Edison, Franklin, Hamilton, Joyner,
Normal Heights, Parks and Rowan elementary schools. Contact: Kim Kossuth,

19 -- Morse Cluster Meeting, 6 p.m., Morse High School, 6905 Skyline Dr.
(92114). Parents, students and community members are invited to attend.
Schools in the Morse cluster are Morse High, Bell Middle School, Bethune
and Fulton K-8, and Audubon, Boone, Freese, Lee, Paradise Hills, Penn,
Perry and Zamorano elementary schools, and the San Diego School for

21 -- Free Tdap Clinic, 12:30-5:30 p.m., Bell Middle School, 620 Briarwood
Rd. (92139). The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency will
be providing free Tdap Vaccines for all 7th -12th grade students on a
first come, first served basis. A parent or guardian must accompany
students under 18 years. Contact: San Diego County Health and Human

22 -- Clairemont Community of Schools, 7 p.m., Marston Middle School, 3799
Clairemont Drive, (92117). Parents, staff, students and community members

or your representative to participate in a Design Task Force for the
Proposition S-funded whole-site modernization project at Taft Middle
School. You will join students, school staff, parents, neighbors,
community members and the architect to discuss the general design of the
middle school, and how it can best serve the students and the community
