SEPTEMBER

22 -- Barnard Elementary Campus Cleanup and Coffee Social, 8 a.m. to 2
p.m., Barnard Elementary School, 2930 Barnard St. (92110). The Pt. Loma
campus's families and community will be joining together to spruce up the

* 24 -- Mira Mesa Cluster Meeting, 5:30 p.m., Mira Mesa High School, 10510
Reagan Rd. (92126). Together, the Mira Mesa Cluster School Council¹s
teaching and learning community will excel in providing the highest

24 -- University City High School Cluster Advisory Group, 4:30 p.m.,
University City High School, 6949 Genesee Ave. (92122). Clusters are a
pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 community of schools with established
feeder patterns. Within these communities of schools, there are specific
needs and interests that are both common and unique to the cluster.

27 -- Pt. Loma High School Open House, 5:30 p.m., Pt. Loma High School,
2335 Chatsworth Blvd. (92106). See what's new at Pt. Loma High this year,

29 -- Parent Advocacy Training and Youth Workshop, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.,
Cherokee Point Elementary School, 3735 38th St. (92105). Two workshops are
being offered at this time. Parent Advocacy is an interactive workshops
for families to be the best advocate for their child, discussing the
important issues affecting their child's education, and what families can
do about it. The youth seminar covers topics such as student rights at

OCTOBER

* 2 -- State of the District Address, 4:30 p.m., University City High
School, 6949 Genesee Ave. (92122). The public is invited to hear Dr. John
Lee Evans, Board of Education President, discuss the State of the San
Diego Unified School District. Contact: Bernie Rhinerson, Chief of Staff,
619-725-5567. This is a regular Board of Education meeting and is open to
the public.

* 5 -- Madison High School 50th Anniversary Homecoming, 5:30 p.m., Madison
High School Stadium, 4833 Doliva Dr. (92117). This year, Madison High
School celebrates 50 years of serving the San Diego community. Join us
for Homecoming on Friday, October 5, 2012, as we celebrate Warhawk pride
and welcome home Madison graduates for Madison vs. Mission Bay. Gates

6 -- EdUCate!'s Fourth Annual Oktoberfest, 2-6 p.m. Standley Park and
Recreation Center, 3585 Governor Drive (92122). EdUCate! is the community
support group for University City schools. Its fourth annual Oktoberfest
hopes to raise $15,000 to benefit the five public schools in University
City. Activities include a rock-climbing wall, jousting, penguin flicker,

* 19 -- Silver Gate Elementary School Harvest Festival, 5-7:30 p.m.,
Silver Gate Elementary School, 1499 Venice St. (92107). An evening of fun
with games, great food and traditional carnival activities including The

26 -- Lincoln High Homecoming for Class of 1962, 6 p.m., stadium, Lincoln
High School, 4777 Imperial Ave. (92113). It's back to the future for the
50th reunion of the hot Hornets from '62 during the annual football

23 -- Taste of La Jolla Benefitting Foundation of La Jolla High School,
6-8:30 p.m., downtown La Jolla. a gourmet taste tour of La Jolla
restaurants will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 23. This is your chance to
stroll the streets of La Jolla, enjoy a "Taste" from each of the 20 plus
participating restaurants and attend an exclusive After-Party at Barfly
Restaurant & Lounge with special pricing for drinks. Cost: $45. Contact:
