means accredited members of the media are invited, but the general public

DECEMBER
8, 14-15 -- Clairemont High School Drama presents ³It¹s a Wonderful Life²,
7 p.m. Clairemont High School, 4150 Ute Dr. (92117). Made famous by Jimmy
Stewart¹s portrayal of George Bailey in the 1946 movie, Clairemont High
School Drama presents the story of an angel-in-training who gives a
despondent man a look at what the world would be like if he had never been

10 -- Special Board of Education Meeting, 4 p.m., Eugene Brucker Education
Center auditorium, 4100 Normal St. (92103). Swearing in ceremony of newly
elected board member Marnie Foster and reelected board members Richard
Barrera and John Evans, followed by the election of the new board
president and vice president. A reception will be held after the meeting.

10 -- Madison Community of Schools Meeting, 5:30 p.m., Madison High School
4833 Doliva Dr. (92117). Parents, students and community members are
invited to attend this meeting, which discusses educational issues at the
high school and its middle and elementary schools. Schools in the Madison
cluster are: Field, Hawthorne, Holmes, Lafayette, Lindbergh Schweitzer,
Sequoia, Whitman, CPMA, Innovation, and Madison High. Contact: Richard

12 -- Clairemont High School Holiday Showcase, 5:30 p.m., Clairemont High
School, 4150 Ute Dr. (92117). It's more than an open house, it's a chance
to discover your neighborhood high school. Food, entertainment and

13 -- Kearny Community of Schools Meeting, 4:30 p.m., Kearny Construction
Tech Academy in Room 301 7651 Wellington St. (92111). Parents, students
and community members are invited to attend this meeting, which discusses
educational issues at the high school and its middle and elementary
schools. Schools in the Kearny cluster are: Angier, Carson, Chesterton,
Cubberley, Fletcher, Hones, Juarez, Linda Vista, Ross, Wegeforth,

prospective families for the upcoming school year can get an insiders view

15 -- JROTC Regulation Drill Competition, 9 a.m., Madison High School,
4833 Dolvia Dr. (92117). JROTC units throughout the district will compete
in the annual Joint Brigade Regulation Drill competition to determine the
overall best drill unit. The competition is designed to showcase military
drill precision and foster an atmosphere of team and individual
competition, while promoting true sportsmanship. Lt. Col. (retired) David

17 -- Winter Break begins for schools on year-round schedule.

* 18, 19 -- Mission Bay High School Shark Tank, 9-11 a.m., Mission Bay
High School 2475 Grand Ave. (92109). Students will present business ideas
to San Diego business leaders (the "sharks") and ask for mock financial
assistance in exchange for equity in their fictional business. Contact:

* 19 -- Band and Choir Winter Concert, 7-9 p.m., Scripps Ranch High School

* 19 -- Picture Yourself at Madison, 8:30-11:30 a.m., Madison High School,
4833 Doliva Dr. (92117). Assembly and tour for Innovation Middle School
and all prospective non-resident parents and students considering

Open to interested families/prospective students.

* 20 -- Orchestra Winter Concert, 7-9 p.m., Scripps Ranch High School

schools. Schools in the Clairemont cluster are: Alcott, Bay Park, Cadman,
Holmes and Toler elementary schools, Marston Middle and Clairemont High
