campuses of the San Diego Unified School District. For more items, check

Please note that if items are listed as "not open to the public," that
means accredited members of the media are invited, but the general public
is not. These are generally items during the school day.

MARCH

* 1 -- Vision 2020 Forum, 3 p.m., Patrick Henry High School, 6702
Wandermere Dr. (92120). Sub-District B Trustee Kevin Beiser, Board
President, hosts this "Vision 20/20 Forum" which provides input on what is
working, what could be improved upon, and how will the district and
community work together to accomplish the district¹s Vision 2020. The
answers to these questions will help chart the course of California's

* 1 -- Partnership Honor Choir, 7 p.m., College Avenue Baptist Church,
4747 College Ave. San Diego. Elementary, middle and high school honor
choirs will perform. Voices are selected from choirs throughout the

3 -- Vision 2020 Forum, Superintendent asks San Diegans to "dream
together" and chart course for schools, Mira Mesa High School, 10510
Reagan Rd. (92126). Sub-District A Trustee John Lee Evans hosts this
"Vision 20/20 Forum" which provides input on what is working, what could
be improved upon, and how will the district and community work together to
accomplish the district¹s Vision 2020. The answers to these questions will
help chart the course of California's second-largest school district.

* 3 -- Jefferson Elementary Remodeling Dedication, 9 a.m., Jefferson
Elementary School, 3770 Utah St. (92104). Join local dignitaries in the
dedication of the updated and remodeled entrance to the North Park campus.

3 -- Read Across America Day, various campuses. Celebrities across the
nation mark the anniversary of the birthday of San Diegan Theodor Geisel,

8 -- Clairemont High School Baseball Fundraiser, 10 a.m., Ernie Beck
Field, Clairemont High School, 4150 Ute Dr. (92117). Players gather
pledges on how far they can hit a baseball; contest is held this day.

public.

8 -- Auditions for the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, 8
a.m., San Diego School for Creative and Performing Arts, 2425 Dusk Dr.
(92113). Learn about the audition process for high school students. SCPA
is celebrating its 36th year as a public arts magnet high school, and
features five majors and 11 programs of study in the arts, plus an
outstanding academic curriculum. Students in grades 9-12 must audition to

10 -- Vision 2020 Forum, 7-9 p.m., Crawford High School, 4191 Colts Way
(92115), Sub-District E and Board Vice President Marne Foster hosts this

accomplish the district¹s Vision 2020. The answers to these questions will
help chart the course of California's second-largest school district.

* 13 -- Free plant giveaway for school gardens, 3-5 p.m., San Diego
Unified Food Services headquarters, 6735 Gifford Way (92111). Donated by
Altman Plants, this is one of three locations where the Resource
Conservation District of Greater San Diego County is giving away donated
fruit and vegetable plants to school gardens. Contact: Ashley Cassat, Food

* 15 -- Middle School Instrumental Honor Concert, 7 p.m., Brown Chapel,
Pt. Loma Nazarene University, Brown Chapel, Pt. Loma Nazarene University,
3900 Lomaland Drive (92106). Watch the best of San Diego Unified's
musicians in this concert of the Middle School Honor Band and Middle
School Honor Orchestra. Students from throughout the district are brought
together to form the band and orchestra. Information: Karen Childress

* 16 -- High School Instrumental Honor Concert, 3 p.m., Copley Symphony
Hall, 750 B St. (92101). Watch the best of San Diego Unified's musicians
in this concert of the High School Honor Band and High School Honor
Orchestra. Students from throughout the district are brought together to
form the band and orchestra. Information: Karen Childress Evans, Director,

* 22 -- Elementary Instrumental Honor Concert, 7 p.m., Brown Chapel, Pt.
Loma Nazarene College, 3900 Lomaland Drive (92106). Concert of more than
100 elementary school students from throughout the San Diego Unified
School District. There will be a band and orchestra performance. Contact:

21 -- Curie Elementary School Multi-Cultural Fair, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Curie
Elementary School, 4080 Governor Dr. (92122). At our annual Multi-Cultural
Fair all children will get a taste of some of the many cultures and
nationalities that are represented at our school. Contact: Pearl Amos,

22 -- JROTC Cadet Ball, 5 p.m., Town & Country Resort, Atlas Ballroom, 500
Hotel Circle North (92118). JROTC Cadets and dignitaries from the San
Diego Unified School District will participate in the annual Cadet Ball to
honor military traditions, proper etiquette, customs and courtesies. This
social event develops cadet citizenship and social skills in a formal

22 -- La Jolla High School Foundation annual fundraiser, 6 p.m., Green
Acre, 10300 Campus Point Drive (92121). An evening with a variety of food
selections at the noted restaurant operated by Chef Brian Malarkey.

26 -- Patrick Henry High Performing Arts Center groundbreaking, 3:30 p.m.,
Patrick Henry High School, 6702 Wandermere Drive (92120). The school's
long-awaited auditorium and other improvements begin construction with
this ceremony. Voter-approved bonds are funding part of the project.

31-April 4 -- Spring Break, all schools closed; administrative offices
open.

APRIL

12 -- Fast Times 5K, 7 a.m., De Anza Cove, Mission Bay. Five-kilometer run
benefits schools in the Clairemont neighborhood, including Clairemont and
Madison high schools. Sponsored by the Clairemont Hills Kiwanis and
Clairemont Mesa Education Foundation. Contact: rdrews2008@gmail.com. Open

MAY

3 -- Teen Job Fair, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Roberts Family Branch, Boys and
Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, 2230 E. Jewett St. (92111), Come meet
local businesses that are hiring teens, organizations offering volunteer
