Please note that if items are listed as "not open to the public," that
means accredited members of the media are invited, but the general public
is not. These are generally items during the school day.

MAY

3 -- Future Pointers K-8 Track and Field Meet, 9 a.m., Pt. Loma High
School, Pt. Loma High School, 2335 Chatsworth Blvd. (92106). Last May over
400 athletes from local Elementary and Middle Schools gathered at the PLHS
Track and Field for our inaugural track and field meet. Athletes competed
as members of their school team with their school PE Teachers serving as
head coach. It was a fun filled day and all proceeds support Protect Our

3 -- Silver Gate Elementary Foundation Silent Auction and Fiesta, 6 p.m.,
Hyatt Regency Mission Bay, 1442 Quivira Road (92109). Help the community
raise funds for this Point Loma school. Purchase tickets:

3 -- Teen Job Fair, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Roberts Family Branch, Boys and
Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, 2230 E. Jewett St. (92111), Come meet
local businesses that are hiring teens, organizations offering volunteer

4 -- Muirlands Rocks celebration, 4-7 p.m., Muirlands Middle School, 1056
Nautilus St. (92037). Support the school's foundation and community by
attending this festival, which includes music by student performers,

5 -- Footlocker Scholarship Presentation with Meb Keflezighi, 11:45 a.m.,
Clairemont High School, 4150 Ute Dr. (92117). The surprise announcement of
the $20,000 scholarship to a Clairemont High student will include a visit
by Meb Keflezighi, winner of the 2014 Boston Marathon. Contact: Mary Jo

5 -- Parents of Newly Identified Gifted Children Orientation, 6:30 p.m.,
Ballard Parent Center, 2375 Congress St. (92110). Parents are invited to
hear what it means to have a gifted child -- from parents of gifted

6 -- Day of the Teacher Celebration, 4:30 p.m., Lewis Middle School, 5170
Greenbrier Ave. (92120). San Diego Unified School District honors its 2014
district and school Teachers of the Year in a festive off-site board
meeting with music and refreshments provided by students. Future Educator,
Mashing and STEM Scholars are also recognized. Contact: Jennifer

7 -- Adams Elementary and San Diego Global Vision Academy Charter
Long-Range Plan Meeting, 6 p.m., Normal Heights United Methodist Church,
4650 Mansfield St. (92116). The process for developing the school¹s master
plan will consist of three to four sessions with representation from

8 -- Iftin Charter Site Master Plan Meeting, 6 p.m., Iftin Charter School,
5465 El Cajon Blvd. (92115). San Diego Unified staff will be meeting with
community members to plan for the future at the City Heights campus.

* 8-11 -- SCPA Dance Concert: "In Motion! 2014," Lyceum Theater, 79 Horton

18 -- Reality Changers Scholarship Celebration, 4:30 p.m., Jenny Craig
Pavilion, University of San Diego, 5998 Alcala Park (92110). Reality
Changers, an independent non-profit organization that helps challenged
students complete high school, is celebrating 250 of the region's top
graduating seniors. Speaker is Vicente Fox, Former President of Mexico.

20 -- Classified Employee of the Year Celebration, 5 p.m., Marston Middle
School, 3799 Clairemont Dr. (92117). San Diego Unified School District
honors its classified employees, naming one the 2014 Classified Employee
of the Year. The celebratory off-site board meeting features music and

22 -- Special Education Resource Fair, 6 p.m., Kearny High School, 7651
Wellington St. (92111). Information on post-high school options for

* 28 -- Cabrillo Elementary German American Game Day for Families, 4-6
p.m., Cabrillo Elementary School, 3120 Talbot St. (92106). Cabrillo
Elementary, which is a German language elementary school, hosts one leg of
Deutsche Spielwoche San Diego -- German Game Week San Diego, organized by
the German American San Diego Foundation. Attendees have the opportunity
to enjoy well-known German and American board and card games. Contact:

30 -- Doyle Elementary International Festival, 5-7 p.m., Doyle Elementary
School, 3950 Berino Ct. (92122). Doyle celebrates its amazing diversity of
its students and their families at its annual International Festival.
Join the fun of multicultural performances and booths representing a
variety of countries. Food trucks will be available for purchasing dinner
