Please note that if items are listed as "not open to the public," that
means accredited members of the media are invited, but the general public
is not. These are generally items during the school day.

MAY

* 24 -- San Diego Unified Fiddlin' Festival, 7 p.m., Lewis Middle School,
5170 Greenbrier Ave. (92120). The first San Diego Unified Fiddlin¹
Festival features district violinists grades two and up, together with the
performers of the California State Old Time Fiddler¹s Association. Fiddle
tunes include ³Cripple Creek,² ³Old Joe Clark,² ³Angeline the Baker,² and
many more favorites! Open to public with admission.

* 24 -- UC High Animal Rights Garage Sale, 8 a.m. to noon, 2976 Fried Ave.
(92122). Students from University City High's PEAPS (Protect Every
Animals, Pledge Service) are holding a garage sale to raise money for the
program.

* 24-25 -- La Jolla High Drama "Lend Me a Tenor," 7 p.m. May 24, 2 p.m.
May 25, La Jolla High School, 750 Nautilus St. (92037). Tony Award-Winning
comedy "Lend Me a Tenor," Ken Ludwig's brilliant tale of mistaken
identity, performed by drama students at La Jolla High School. Open to the
public with admission charge.

26 -- Memorial Day. All schools and offices closed.

28 -- Cabrillo Elementary German American Game Day for Families, 4-6 p.m.,
Cabrillo Elementary School, 3120 Talbot St. (92106). Cabrillo Elementary,
a German language elementary school, hosts one leg of Deutsche Spielwoche
San Diego -- German Game Week San Diego, organized by the German American
San Diego Foundation. Attendees have the opportunity to enjoy well-known
German and American board and card games. Contact: Nestor Suarez,
Principal, 619-223-7154. Open to the public.

* 28 -- Jefferson Elementary Centennial Celebration, 4:30-8 p.m., 3770
Utah St. (92104). Events will begin at 4:30 p.m. with an alumni reunion,
followed by the centennial celebration at 5:30 p.m. and open house at 6:30
p.m. Contact: Francisco Morga, Principal, 619-344-3300. Open to the public.

28 -- Youth Advisory Board Campaigns Premier, 6 p.m., Lincoln High School,
4777 Imperial Ave. (92113). Students from Lincoln, Scripps Ranch and Mira
Mesa high schools have created campaigns to increase awareness about youth
issues. Contact: Leah Wong, SD District Attorney, 619-531-4355. Open to
the public.

Mesa Blvd. (92126). Students from Lincoln, Scripps Ranch and Mira Mesa
high schools have created campaigns to increase awareness about youth

* 29 -- UC High School Pops Concert, 6:30 p.m., University City High
School, 6949 Genesee Ave. (92122). A pre-show outdoors featuring the color
guard begins at 6:30 PM. The choir, orchestra, band, and jazz band will
be performing in the UCHS auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3
for students and auditorium doors open at 6:50 PM. Standley Middle School
students will get in free with their student ID. Contact: Jeff Olivero,

* 29 -- Salute to Excellence, 3:30 p.m., Shiley Theater, University of San
Diego, 5998 Alcala Park (92110). Eighty students representing the top one
percent of every district high school¹s Class of 2014 will be honored at
this special ceremony. City Council President Todd Gloria is the keynote
speaker. Contact: Linda Zintz, communications director, (619) 847-6673.
Free and open to the public.

* 30 -- Loma Portal Elementary Spring Fling "American Roadshow" Music
Festival, 5:30 p.m., Loma Portal Elementary School, 3341 Browning St.
(92106). It's one of our most popular events of the year featuring your
child as the amazing entertainment followed by carnival games, crafts,
food booths from our local restaurants, 4th grade bake sale and new this
year -- a giant double inflatable slide! Contact: Glenda Gerde, Principal,
(619) 223-1683. Open to the public.

30 -- Doyle Elementary International Festival, 5-7 p.m., Doyle Elementary
School, 3950 Berino Ct. (92122). Doyle celebrates its amazing diversity of
its students and their families at its annual International Festival.
Join the fun of multicultural performances and booths representing a
variety of countries. Food trucks will be available for purchasing dinner

the public.

31 -- Pt. Loma High Foundation Celebration of Chris Brinker, 6:30 p.m.,
Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens 2816 Historic Decatur Rd, #116
Liberty Station. Celebrated filmmaker was a Pt. Loma High graduate ('86).
Event will raise money for the school's film and arts programs. Sponsored
by Chris Brinker Film Foundation. Contact: vmoats13@cox.net. Open to the
public with admission charge.

JUNE
* 2 ­ Madison Cluster Open House, 5-8 p.m., Madison High School, 4833
Doliva Dr. (92117). Help shape the Facility Master Plan for the Madison
High School Cluster, exploring current educational and career pathways,
discussing issues facing the cluster and providing input about educational
and community priorities. Childcare, refreshments and student
entertainment and educational activities will be provided. Contact: Midori

public.
