NEWS RELEASE from the San Diego Unified School District, May 14, 2014
SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOLS ON REGULAR SCHEDULE THURSDAY
SAN DIEGO -- Schools in the San Diego Unified School District will be on
normal schedules Thursday, May 15. A closure was incorrectly reported by
media on Wednesday afternoon.
To make sure students and staff are as safe and comfortable as possible
during the school day, the district's plan is in place. Physical
Education, recess and athletic activities will be modified or rescheduled,
including before- and after-school programs.
Schools are asking that parents make sure that their child brings plenty
of water to school in a closed container or encourage children to drink
from school water fountains to ensure they get adequate fluids.
Children should be dressed in light, loose fitting clothing. Parents
should apply sunscreen, as school staff is not permitted to apply it.
Parents of children with a heat-sensitive medical condition should call
their school and make special arrangements to ensure their child's safety.
