* 12 -- Special Board of Education Budget Meeting, 8 a.m., Eugene Brucker
Education Center Auditorium, 4100 Normal St. (92103). Board of Education is
scheduled to discuss the 2010-11 school year proposed budget. Available on

14-15 -- Zamorano Elementary Band and Orchestra Concert, 6 p.m., Zamorano
Elementary School, 2655 Casey St. (92139). Budding musicians perform at the

* 15 -- Special Board of Education Budget Meeting, 8 a.m., Eugene Brucker

scheduled to discuss the 2010-11 goals for student achievement. Open to the

18 -- High School Commencements, All day event. Clairemont, Crawford, Henry,
iHigh, Kearny, Lincoln, Mira Mesa, Mt. Everest, Pt. Loma, Serra and
University City high schools. Contact the individual schools for access and

21 -- Last day of school, traditional calendar.

21 -- Commencement Ceremonies for Garfield, La Jolla, Madison, Mission Bay,
Morse, San Diego Early/Middle College, San Diego, San Diego MET, San Diego
School of Creative and Performing Arts, Scripps Ranch, Twain. Contact the

* 24 -- Summer Fun Café Kickofff Barbecue Event at Skyline Hills Recreation
Center, Skyline Hills Community Park, 8285 Skyline Dr., San Diego. Kickoff
the Summer Fun Cafe program with a fun day in the park and a free barbecue
for kids and their parents; featuring the Padres' Friar and Pad Squad a
nutrition decathlon with prizes music inflatable jumper crafts Community
Cares Partners' booths San Diego Food Bank giveaways Food Stamp
pre-screening health screenings. Sponsored by San Diego Unified and the City

will feature entomologist Michael Klein, a bright light and hopefully a lot

* 29 -- Summer Fun Café Mexican Fiesta Day at Martin Luther King Jr.
Recreation Center, Sponsored by San Diego Unified and the City of San Diego
Park and Recreation Department. Free Mexican fiesta for children ages 2-18
adults $2 Power Up Your Summer Challenge that includes Mexican kickball pass
the sombrero the limbo – (how LOW can you go) and lime toss. Feeding America
San Diego gives away free bags of fruits and vegetables. Contact: Joanne

* 17 -- SCPA 'Hairspray' Preview and Fundraiser, 6 p.m., Lyceum Theater, 324
Horton Plaza (92101). Gala reception will include complimentary appetizers,
and desserts, as well as a silent auction and entertainment. Special preview
performance of "Hairspray" will follow at 8 p.m. Students at SCPA are

14 -- Military Parents' Resource Enrollment Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Farb
Middle School, 4880 La Cuenta Dr. (92124). Military families new to the area
are invited to register for any San Diego Unified school, plus learn about
the various resources available to them from the district, the Navy, Marine

Tuesday: Powwow Workshop Soaring Eagles, 6 p.m. Ballard Parent Center, 2375
Congress Ave. (92110). Enjoy free potluck supper and practice for Soaring
Eagles student dance troupe, and pitch in to help the children learn
history, heritage and performance lessons. Part of Parent Outreach's
