Unity in the Community Social Justice Roundtable
Students, community leaders, members of the public, school district and elected officials are invited to attend the Unity in the Community Social Justice Forum this evening, Thursday, October 14, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at St. Stephen’s Cathedral Church, located at 5825 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92114.
This is a free event and is open to the public.
The featured speaker and moderator of the event is Harvard Law Professor and trusted advisor to President Barrack Obama, Dr. Charles Ogletree. The roundtable will cover topics such as: why do so many black people die at an early age; the importance of voting and political involvement; how to achieve success through education; the goals of community policing; understanding your civil and human rights; pitfalls of domestic violence.
The following panelists will be featured during the roundtable: Dr. Rodney Hood, Careview Medical Group; Myrtle Cole, San Diego City Councilmember 4th District; Bonnie Dumanis, San Diego County District Attorney; San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman; Attorney Lei-Chala Wilson; Marne Foster, Vice President of San Diego Unified School Board. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
