4 -- Tax Seminar for Auxiliary/Support Groups, 3 p.m., Auditorium, Eugene
Brucker Education Center, 4100 Normal St. (92103). Leadership of booster
clubs, parent-teacher organizations, foundations and other affiliated school
groups are invited to a presentation by Dawn L. Goldberg, a revenue agent
with the IRS. Tax exemption and tax filing issues are on the agenda.

6 -- Joyner MicroSociety Magnet School Back To School Night, 5-6 p.m.,
Joyner MicroSociety Magnet School, 4271 Myrtle Ave. (92105). This event
gives parents and guardians an opportunity to learn about the school's

6 -- Hage Elementary Muffins for Moms, 7:45 a.m., Hage Elementary School,

6 -- Mira Mesa High Senior College Night, 6 p.m., Mira Mesa High, 10510
Reagan Rd. (92126). The Marauders'' Class of '11 will meet with college
recruiters, financial aide experts and others to help chart a course for the

* 8 -- Mira Mesa High Co-Ed Dance Team Annual Showcase, 6:30 p.m., Mira Mesa
High School, 10510 Reagan Rd. (92126). The National Championship Co-Ed Dance
Team presents its fourth annual Fall Showcase and Dinner. The team will be
performing medleys that include the entire 58-dancer ensemble, as well as
competitive class routines choreographed by each class. Tickets are $8.

8 -- Pershing Middle School "Take Your Parent to School Day," Pershing
Middle School, 8204 San Carlos Dr. (92119). This event is easily the most
popular parent involvement event at Pershing. This rewarding experience
enables parents to share in their children's school life and to see their

* 9-10 -- La Jolla Art and Wine Festival, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Upper Girard
Avenue at Pearl Street. Proceeds go to support La Jolla public schools from
this annual festival that will feature more than 100 juried artists,
entertainment and a variety of food. Contact:

9 -- Engineering Girls Day Out, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Pt. Loma Nazarene
University, 3900 Lomaland Drive (92106). Hosted by Pt. Loma Nazarene
University, the National Defense Industrial Association and SPAWAR Systems
Center Pacific, the fun-filled day will include a tour of the university and

9 -- Hoover High 80th Anniversary Celebration, 5 p.m., Hall of Champions,

12 -- What Parents Need and Want To Know About Sexting, Cyberbullying and

Children Task Force (ICAC) and San Diego Police Foundation are holding this

29 -- Holmes Elementary Halloween Parade, Holmes Elementary School, 4902 Mt.

classroom and inviting the children to join in. Students will be wearing

30 -- Sunset View Elementary Halloween Carnival, 3:30-7:30 p.m., Sunset View

30 -- Holmes Elementary Halloween Carnival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Holmes

* 13 -- Pt. Loma High 85th Anniversary Gala, 6 p.m., Liberty Station

including the "Once a Pointer, Always a Pointer" gala and auction. Contact:
