29, 30, Nov. 4, 5, 6 -- SCPA Presents Macbeth, 7 p.m. (at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
on Oct 30 and Nov 6), San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, 2425
Dusk Drive (92139). Little Theater. Information: (619) 475-8556. Open to the

28 -- Angier Elementary Food Drive, all day, Angier Elementary School, 8450
Hurlburt St. (92123). Pre-holiday canned food drive supports Serra Mesa
Community County Food Pantry. Members of the public are welcome to drop off
canned food; students will be bringing their own. Contact: Kimberlee Kidd,

28 -- Special Education or 504 College/Post High School Options, 6 p.m.,
Point Loma High School. Panel discussion covers options after high school
options for students with disabilities. Topics include college attendance
(university and community college), adult education programs, vocational
programs, criteria for high school diploma; GED options and the district's
TRACE program, Regional Center and the California Department of

29 -- Holmes Elementary Halloween Parade, Holmes Elementary School, 4902 Mt.
Ararat Dr. (92111). Mrs. Cross will lead the parade by walking by each
classroom and inviting the children to join in. Students will be wearing
their costumes during the parade around the school. Contact: Evva Cross,

30 -- Sunset View Elementary Halloween Carnival, 3:30-7:30 p.m., Sunset View
Elementary School, 4365 Hill St. (92107). The 52nd annual carnival includes

30 -- Holmes Elementary Halloween Carnival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Holmes
Elementary School, 4902 Mt. Ararat Dr. (92111). Have a spooktaular time at
one of San Diego Unified's neighborhood schools. Activities include games

30 -- Toler Elementary Halloween Carnival, 2 a.m. to 5 p.m., Toler

3 -- An Evening with Diane Ravitch, 5 p.m., Madison High School, 4833 Doliva
Dr, San Diego (92117). Ravitch, author of "The Death and Life of the Great
American School System," will speak to the San Diego community. For public,

* 4-6 -- Association of California School Administrators Leadership
Conference, Manchester Grand Hyatt, One Market Place (92101). Conference by
statewide educational organization. Supt. Kowba will be welcoming attendees

* 4-7 -- Old Globe Theater Southeastern San Diego Residency Project at
Lincoln High School, 4777 Imperial Ave. (92113). San Diego theater in its
second annual visit to the Performing Arts Center for performances (open to
the public) and Globe actors working with students at Lincoln and SCPA.

6 -- Morse High Rising Above Pressure Parent-Student Conference, 9 a.m. to

pressure with interactive workshops on topics including Internet safety,
applying for college, fitness, culinary arts, high school test prep and

6 -- San Diego Fiesta Educativa, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Southwestern College, 900
Otay Lakes Road, Chula Vista (91910). Fiesta Educativa was founded in
California in 1978 to inform and assist Latino families in obtaining
services and in caring for their children with special needs. A limited

6 -- AP "Super Saturday," 8 a.m., Clairemont High School, 4150 Ute Dr.
(92117). San Diego Unified's Advanced Placement Incentive Program presents a
day of teaching, leading and succeeding in the 21st century for teachers and

6 -- Curie Elementary Holiday Craft Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Curie Elementary

longtime community staple draws more than 100 booths with sellers offering
hundreds of handmade arts and crafts items, food booths, bake sale and
silent auction. The Kid's Corner will feature carnival games and

* 10 -- Serra High School Modernization Project Site Master Planning Design

13 -- Pt. Loma High 85th Anniversary Gala, 6 p.m., Liberty Station

celebrate 85 years of educational excellence with a weekend of events
including the "Once a Pointer, Always a Pointer" gala and auction. Contact:

19-26 -- San Diego Science Festival, on SDUSD campuses and in various
locations around San Diego. More than 75,000 students, parents, scientists,
educators, and other community members are anticipated to take part in this
year's activities, with over 30,000 expected on Expo Day, a
free-to-the-community event. Contact: Mary Jo Ball, San Diego Science

public.

Tuesday: Powwow Workshop Soaring Eagles, 6 p.m. Ballard Parent Center, 2375
Congress Ave. (92110). Enjoy free potluck supper and practice for Soaring
Eagles student dance troupe, and pitch in to help the children learn
history, heritage and performance lessons. Part of Parent Outreach's
