DETAILS
The Accountability Progress Report (APR) is an annual listing of
standardized test scores in English language arts and mathematics released
by the California Department of Education. The scores are used to determine
compliance with standards set under the federal No Child Left Behind Act
(NCLB). Schools and the District must meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
targets in a variety of subgroups; if they don't, they can be categorized as
"failing" under NCLB and placed in Program Improvement.
Among the highlights (embargoed until 10 a.m.):
-- More schools (number and percentage) have API scores over 800 and 900.
-- All student groups had positive growth on the API.
-- Achievement gaps for some student groups appear to have begun closing
(Hispanic, Economically Disadvantaged, English Learner, and Students with
Disabilities).
-- The district advances to Year 2 of Program Improvement.
