6 -- Labor Day, all schools and offices closed.

7 -- First Day of School. Supt. Kowba will be available for interviews at 6

7 -- Board of Education Meeting, 5 p.m., Eugene Brucker Education Center
Auditorium, 4100 Normal Street, (92103). Charter Schools and Proposition S

* 13 ­ Lincoln Cluster Parent and Community Forum, 6 p.m., Lincoln High
School, 4777 Imperial Ave. (92113). Community members and parents/guardians
from schools in the Lincoln High area are invited to the school to discuss
issues. Schools include: Baker, Balboa, Chavez, Chollas-Mead, Encanto,
Horton, Johnson, Knox, Nye, Porter, Valencia Park and Webster elementary
schools; Millennial Tech (MTM) and Memorial Prep middle schools. Contact:

* 15 ­ Junior Parent Night, 6 p.m., Hoover High School, 4474 El Cajon Blvd.

* 22 ­ Budget and Parcel Tax Town Hall Meeting, 6:30 p.m., San Diego High

J, the November ballot measure that would place a parcel tax on properties

history, heritage and performance lessons. Part of Parent Outreach's
