* 27 -- University City Cluster Meeting, 4:30 p.m., University City High
School, 6949 Genesee Ave. (92122). Parent and community members are invited
to the University City Cluster Meeting. The school district is giving a
stronger voice to local community about what we want in our schools. Area
Superintendent Mike Price will be in attendance as well as John Lee Evans,
Board Representative for University City. Parents from the following UC
schools should attend: University City High School, Standley Middle School,

28 Roosevelt Middle School Back-To-School Night, 5:30 p.m., Roosevelt

* 1 -- Miller Elementary Library Makeover Unveiling, 10 a.m., Miller
Elementary School, 4343 Shields Street (92124). Target store volunteers and
the Heart of America Foundation have worked with community volunteers and
school staff to makeover the school's library. Guests include Capt. Ricky L.
Williamson, commanding officer of Naval Base San Diego. Ceremony will reopen

* 1 -- Holmes Elementary PTA Movie Night in the Park, 6 p.m., East
Clairemont Athletic Field (on Mt. Acadia next to Girls Softball field). This
is a great community event where Holmes families get together and the kids
get to hang out with their friends. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park. No pets allowed. Tony the

* 4 -- Tax Seminar for Auxiliary/Support Groups, 3 p.m., Auditorium, Eugene
Brucker Education Center, 4100 Normal St. (92103). Leadership of booster

groups are invited to a presentation by Dawn L. Goldberg, a revenue agent
with the IRS. Tax exemption and tax filing issues are on the agenda.

Center Pacific, the fun-filled day will include a tour of the university and
