DETAILS: Barnard Asian Pacific Language Academy has many special things to celebrate in this coming Year of the Sheep – it's the language school's second year on its new campus in Pacific Beach; the continuation of teaching Chinese; and expansion to offer other Pacific Rim languages, i.e., Korean and Japanese. It is the only public school of this kind in the nation.
So, it is with extra excitement that Barnard celebrates the Lunar New Year. On Wednesday, February 25, the school will have the traditional lion dance, martial arts demonstrations, classical Chinese musical performances, and performances by Barnard students. Invited guests include San Diego Mayor, Kevin Faulconer, School Board Members: Richard Barrera, Michael McQuary, Kevin Beiser, and Marne Foster, among others.
On Saturday, February 29, the public celebration will also include crafts, games, art auction, as well as fabulous performances. The festival annually draws hundreds of people from all over the county.
